Ai Weiwei’s exhibition

Ai Weiwei is one of China’s most recognizable contemporary artists and activist, as an activist he’s highly and openly critical of the Chinese government on democracy and human rights. This exhibitions shows his investigated corruption and cover-ups such as the 2008 Sichuan earthquake.

Following in 2011 he was arrested at Beijing Capital International airport  and imprisoned for nearly 81 days without any official charges being made, which sent a massive shock in the art world.

Ai Weiwei’s fame for  his political dissident has increased to the point it overshadowed his artist practices. Ai Weiwei is still dedicated to his work and produced a body of his work not only relating to political purposes but his passion of material experimentation.
